The recorder comedy

The world of Radger the Badger is rooted in stories that go far beyond bedtime.

"Each character is more than a forest creature — they reflect traits of our family, and by extension, the dynamics of any community. These tales explore how caring for one another drives us to fight with and for each other, to listen, to collaborate without losing ourselves. They’re about how love and curiosity push us toward understanding.

Growing up, my sister and I would wait for our father to come home late at night. No matter how tired he was after a long day working in construction — cement still on his clothes, hands dusty, the faint smell of cigarettes — he always kept his promise: a story before bed. But not just any story. His story. Radger the Badger.

He’d sit between us and begin, half-playful: “Once upon a time… The End.” We’d protest, of course. He’d laugh, try again, and after a few dramatic “Once upon a time… time… time…” — he’d pretend to fall asleep, snoring on purpose. We’d nudge him, beg: “Dad, dad! A real Radger the Badger story!”

And then the world as we knew it would fade away.

Radger, a witty herbalist and physician (who happens to be a badger), wanders the forest collecting rare ingredients for his potions. On every journey, he encounters something new — something bad, charming, strange, silly, mysterious — and he must figure out what it means. Along the way, he meets recurring characters: Ishkabah, the wise old tree; Starbright, a fellow badger and Radger’s quiet love; and Egog, a trickster goblin and rival-friend.

Together, they navigate these oddities through dialogue, conflict, and shared perspectives. Their stories repeat, spiral, and evolve — each time revealing something new. There’s always another angle, another question, another color to notice.

Radger the Badger is a story that never truly ends. Because even when it does, there's always a detail worth seeing again… just a little differently.”
